ONE WEEK OUT

In a week from today we will be in country and I seriously can’t be more excited! Just the thought of all the people out there that we get to go help gets me all giddy! Sure, my Italian isn’t exactly understandable, but you don’t need words to show love for others. Also, I have learned that you can say practically anything with your hands.

The big thing that happened this week is that Elder Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles came here and spoke to us and it was a fantastic experience in which the Spirit was almost tangible. What he did, instead of standing at the pulpit and lecturing, he handed out a few hundred cell phones to us and would have us text him questions to the ipad he had on the pulpit. He would then proceed to go through them and answer them for us! Although the meeting was not lacking in authority and power, the most powerful statement was his testimony in which he said, “I know Christ rose from the dead. He. Is. Alive.”

This message that we have to share is simply one of love. Christmas season is a stressful time for a lot of people, it has been for me as well, but it doesn’t have to be. Christ suffered for us so that we might not have to endure our pains, but that He might succor our infirmities and build us up in eternal strength and happiness. This is what I am grateful for this Holiday season and I wish to extend a commitment to all of you that as you go through this month, take at least ten minutes each day to thank God for what you have, and for the happiness that He is willingly extending to us. I promise that as you do this, you will be filled with His love and you can experience the true happiness of the season!

This MTC experience has been a blast, and I’m grateful for it and the people I’ve met. The food is so fake though, and it really does a number on your insides. This is only helped, of course, by the decision of one of the Anziani in our zone to buy 4 lbs. of those sugar free gummy bears to share with everyone. You know, the kind that REALLY do a number on your insides? Needless to say, this will be an interesting last week.

The next post I will send out will be from Italy, most likely in 2 weeks, so ciao everyone and keep on plowing through life!
